A guest appearance on the Story Club Tulsa podcast
When I came up with the title, Beverley Green: Sasquatch Hunter for my first book, I had no idea what I was doing. I mean, NO IDEA. Little did I know it would result, a few years later, in being a guest on a podcast to read about… Bigfoot.
I honestly didn’t know that Bigfoot was such a big thing here in Oklahoma. I’ve only been living here since 1989 but I guess it had been a sheltered existence.
In the book, Beverley is terrified of Bigfoot and is forced to find a way to make peace with her fears as well as her disappointment in her fellow townsfolks’ unflappable belief in Sasquatch. In subsequent books, Bigfoot is (still) not a major character but he remains a reader favorite (we’ll save waxing poetic about Beryl for another day). If I had only known what I was getting myself into.
I have received Bigfoot-themed gifts, including socks, stickers, books, Christmas ornaments, and card games. And let’s not even get into all the memes…so many memes!
Oklahoma’s Unwavering Fascination with Bigfoot
So when I was asked to be a guest on the Story Club Tulsa podcast recently, I wasn’t surprised that it ended up being billed as an episode about Bigfoot. Fortunately I’d randomly chosen the perfect chapter to read, and host Ryan Howell added an intro with his own Bigfoot story. As a result, you’ve got a mighty fine podcast! Okay sure, I mess up a few times, but it’s still worth a listen as I muddle my way through giving voice to Al Turner.

I’d forgotten how much fun it is to podcast. In fact, I’m about 90% sure I’ll be teaming up with my pal Ren to bring back our old podcast, Wordy Girls Rule the World. I’ll be sure to keep you apprised of our progress. Until then, I hope you enjoy the Story Club Tulsa Bigfoot episode!
