Hello Friends, Book Nerds, and Random Web Bots!
I hope 2020 has been going well for you. Here at the Indie Authors Who Write About Chickens HQ, things have been going swimmingly. I’ve been reading, writing and…recording! More on that last one later, for now I’ll fill you in on the first two.
Reading
What have I been reading? A better question would be, what haven’t I been reading? That’s easy!

Here are some books I’ve read lately that I enjoyed enough to pass on a recommendation.
Bad Monkey, by Carl Hiaasen
I haven’t read everything by Mr. Hiaasen, but everything I have read, has been good. This was the first one I tried and holy cow, it was funny. I actually listened to the audiobook and LOLed in the car on many occasions. Fellow drivers probably thought I was nuts. But that’s okay. We also read Hiaasen’s Razor Girl for Book Club, also very good!
Hollow Kingdom, by Kira Jane Buxton
We read this for Book Club, too. It caught some flak for being a little too predictable, plot-wise, but I loved the poetic nature of her prose, and also, what is not to love about a book told from the point of view of a crow? Toward the end of the book, the crow narrator, ST (I’ll let you learn what that stands for on our own) vows to tell the only remaining human left on the planet (after all the others are turned into zombies from a virus on THEIR ELECTRONIC DEVICES), about how previous humans copied bird “wings,” and put them on airplanes and feminine hygiene products. This book made me laugh, almost made me cry, and gave me a new respect for crows.

Writing
I am writing two more Beverley Green books and they will come out later this year. But you can get your fix now, because I am giving away one free short story per month, via my newsletter! Each story takes place in Guthrie, and is about one of the lovable characters you’ve met in the books. The Guthrie Short Stories will be bundled together and available for purchase in December, but you can get them for FREE right now, if you’re on the mailing list. You’d better get on that…like, now!
More exciting announcements coming soon. Till then, read good books, be nice to people, and have a great day!
