Why I’m Rewriting My First Novel

August 24, 2021 Leave a Comment

And Other Recent News Hello Friend! Gosh, it's been a few minutes since I've posted here. But if you're a newsletter subscriber, you've gotten mail from me all year, so that should count, right? In any case, 2020 doesn't count. We should all get a do-over for last year. As for this year... things out in the World continue to be topsy-turvy, and I ended up spending 3 1/2 months in California tending to family stuff. I'll probably be going back before the year is over. As someone who does ... Continue Reading »

That one time I was on that podcast

story club tulsa podcast

A guest appearance on the Story Club Tulsa podcast When I came up with the title, Beverley Green: Sasquatch Hunter for my first book, I had no idea what I was doing. I mean, NO IDEA. Little did I know it would result, a few years later, in being a guest on a podcast to read about... Bigfoot. I honestly didn't know that Bigfoot was such a big thing here in Oklahoma. I've only been living here since 1989 but I guess it had been a sheltered existence. In the book, Beverley is terrified of ... Continue Reading »

Thriving in 2020?

September 1, 2020 2 Comments

Um, hey 2020, wtf? To put it lightly, 2020 has been a real game changer. Some people temporarily lost their jobs. Some people permanently lost their livelihood. Others have lost their lives. Unless you live in a cave on a deserted island, this year has changed your life in ways you probably couldn’t even comprehend 12 months ago. Yet, here we are. In the fall, I start to reflect on the current year and begin to think ahead to the next one. How does this year feel? Is it going how I thought ... Continue Reading »

Days Are Beautiful: a love letter to 2020

August 10, 2020 2 Comments

2020 still has a few months to go before we politely send it on its way, but it already feels like its been a decade long. Sometimes. Other times, it feels like ten minutes have gone by and it's already August. Let's just say, this has been one of the weirdest years ever. Weird, scary, tough, frustrating, crazy, sad ... all appropriate descriptors for this year - the year that COVID-19 went global. But through it all, there have also been glimpses of beauty and laughter and love. So when I ... Continue Reading »

The 100 Day Project

the 100 day project

Well, these are interesting times. Who would have ever thought we'd be living through a global pandemic? Not me! That was always the kind of thing that happened someplace else. Or a very long time ago or possibly way off in the future. But, here we are. The other day, I happened to notice that another "100 Day Project" was beginning on Instagram. I happened to notice on Day 1/100. I've always wanted to participate in this. To be honest, I've started the challenge several times, only to flame ... Continue Reading »

Sometimes I look at photographs I took in the early days of The Big P, and I’m profoundly moved. It was so emotional for me - and for many others, I know. Things are so different now. Not “the same as before,” but a new same as before. I won’t ever forget those quiet, angst-filled days. The book I wrote during that time, “Days Are Beautiful,” is a work I’ll always be very proud of. 100 stories that are 100 words each. Like it was a teeny tiny way to control what was going on. DAB is available at all the book places, if you’d like to pick one up.
